The World Motor Sport Council met and the focus was on redesigning the existing points system.
The plan was to drastically change the system, but this was ultimately scrapped. Instead, the extra points system will be abolished. This system was introduced in 2019 for drivers who finished in the top ten and set the fastest lap. It will no longer be available from 2025. At the beginning of the season, there was talk that places 1-12 would receive points in the future, instead of the current top 10.
This was ultimately rejected after the current discussions, and the existing system remains in force.
