Older Sainz: “It wasn’t Ferrari that needed Hamilton, but the other way around”

Älterer Sainz: „Nicht Ferrari brauchte Hamilton, sondern umgekehrt“

It has been a long time since Carlos Sainz's departure was announced, and it continues to cause a stir because the Spaniard was sacked by Scuderia Ferrari during perhaps his best season.

Many believe that the team is to blame, but now Carlos Sainz's father spoke about how Lewis Hamilton should be held responsible for the events rather than the red team:

"Ferrari was very happy with Carlos, but he couldn't stay because Hamilton made the team an offer. He was the one who contacted Ferrari, not the other way around. That's why this story happened, but it's a shame to mourn it. What bothers me, however, is that Carlos isn't receiving the respect and appreciation he deserves for his abilities. He's had his best season; we're seeing him at his best right now, and he'll only continue to improve. He's a driver who gets better every year, but he's facing difficult times at Williams. The team finished second to last in the Constructors' Championship, but he's still very motivated. It was difficult for him to process the situation during the season, including the fact that Mercedes and Red Bull Racing didn't pick him, but you'll see what he's capable of..." said the older Sainz, disappointed and proud.
