The former Scuderia Ferrari team principal believes the Italian team made a mistake by signing Lewis Hamilton. However, he believes Hamilton got a great deal!
Binotto returned to Formula 1 this year as CEO of Audi, but will always remain a Ferrari fan. He believes Fred Vasseur made a mistake by signing Hamilton, as the focus should be much more on the talent of Charles Leclerc:
"Hamilton made a very good decision to move to Ferrari, and I agree with his decision. If I had to decide in this matter, I wouldn't have brought him into the team, because in my opinion, we should focus on the younger drivers. There's the talented Leclerc, and in my opinion, we should achieve the big goals with him.

I've supported Ferrari since I was a child, and our shared past can't be erased. I still have many photos and objects from that time in my apartment. But career decisions don't always align with emotions; you have to be able to distinguish between the two. Regardless, I'm still happy when Ferrari wins. I have many dear friends there, and in moments like these, I feel like I contributed a little to their success," Binotto said.
