Official confirmation has now arrived: the Formula 1 World Championship field will indeed be expanded! Here are the statements from those involved:
"The participation of General Motors and Cadillac in this project is a very important and positive sign and a step forward for the development of our sport. We are excited to see how the project will develop and grow, and we are sure that everyone will support them," said Stefano Domenicali.
"GM is an incredible global brand with impressive partnerships. I fully support the joint effort of the FIA, Formula 1, and General Motors, and we have already finalized an agreement to ensure the team can be present at the start of the 2026 World Championship. The parties are committed and will work together to ensure this process runs smoothly," said Mohammed ben Sulayem.
"The pinnacle of motorsport is F1, and as such, it requires continuous innovation from everyone who participates. It's an honor that GM and Cadillac can join this elite. We have long been committed to competing with passion and integrity and elevating the sport, F1, to a higher level. This is a huge global stage, and we can showcase GM's engineering expertise and technological influence at a new level," emphasized Mark Reuss, the American boss.
