Ex-Pilot: Hamilton wird im Ferrari langsam sein

Lucas Di Grassi believes that Lewis Hamilton has already passed his peak, which is why he would not have signed him if he were Ferrari.

In one area, Lewis Hamilton has suffered immensely in 2024, and in this respect, it's no exaggeration to say that the Briton has reached the lowest point of his career so far. This is particularly evident in his qualifying performance, in which he was very clearly beaten by George Russell this year. Lucas di Grassi, who once drove for the Renault F1 team and later won the Formula E championship, believes this is a good example of Hamilton's passing; he's expensive and slow, and someone else should have gotten the Ferrari seat.

"If I were in Ferrari's shoes, I would never have signed Lewis Hamilton. He's expensive, already slow, and way past his prime. Instead, I would have given the chance to someone who really has the potential to reach the top with the Scuderia.
He compensates for his now insufficient pace with his enormous experience, good strategy, great teamwork and by helping the team to improve their settings and understand their car better.

But after a year like this, in which Ferrari has proven they can grow on their own, I don't think they really need it. In the short term, Hamilton is good marketing, but if they really want to win a world championship, he's no longer the right man," di Grassi said harshly about the seven-time world champion.
