General Motors can come, but they will be mercilessly ripped off...

General Motors kann kommen, aber sie werden gnadenlos abgezockt...

Although it was recently announced and we also reported on the arrival of F1's eleventh team, there has been a "small" unpleasant aftertaste amidst the joy.

It's certainly great news that the barriers to the new team's entry have been removed, but this isn't due to the generosity of those involved. Rather, it's because instead of the originally planned $200 million, $450 million will now flow into the league's coffers, which means they were willing to play nice—and for a price two and a half times higher...

This means that General Motors will have to pay more than three racing seasons' worth of costs upfront just to talk to them and actually win the right to participate. This amount will be divided among the teams already involved, but the exact ratio is still unclear. However, the international press is speculating that if all teams share the revenue equally, each will be rewarded with an amount equal to the price of the last two teams in the Constructors' Championship—simply for accommodating GM.

With the entry of the Americans, an old, relevant rule is also broken: Until now, every team received a share of the sport's revenue, but in the future only the top ten will enjoy this.
