Terrible chaos, Lando Norris's hellish ride, Max Verstappen's resurrection, spiced with a little Alpine miracle. In short, that's the chronicle of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The Brazilian Grand Prix hadn't even started when we already documented the first retirement: Lance Stroll abandoned his Aston Martin on the formation lap and dug himself into the gravel. That was the end of the race for him... George Russell got off to the best of starts and immediately took the lead ahead of Lando Norris. The field got off to a relatively clean start, with only Sergio Perez spinning and falling back to last place. In the other Red Bull, Max Verstappen put in a strong comeback and was up to seventh place ahead of Oscar Piastri after just a few laps. Franco Colapinto and Oliver Bearman also shone, overtaking the suffering Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion was visibly struggling, unable to find his footing with his car and stuck at the back of the field. The race was just starting to get boring when an extreme amount of water fell on the track, prompting a safety car period.
Earlier, several drivers visited the pit lane, including Collapinto, who severely damaged the Williams on his out lap. A red flag followed, a long wait, and then a flying start. Esteban Ocon was able to maintain his lead, while Lando Norris lost a lot of ground behind him due to a slip. Meanwhile, Bearman ended up in the wall, but it was in a good spot, allowing the race to continue uninterrupted. Meanwhile, Ocon's lead grew steadily, but Carlos Sainz came up, had an accident, and the safety car re-entered the track. Verstappen made the better of the next restart and took the lead. And with Norris making a huge mistake, he practically handed his rival the opportunity on a silver platter...
The next twenty laps played out like this: Verstappen and the two Alpines on the podium, battles at the back of the field, and Norris "nowhere." There was no more drama in the remaining time; Max Verstappen won the Brazilian Grand Prix with a huge lead, after a great battle, ahead of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly. And with it, likely the next world championship title.
