Hamilton: “I’ve never spun…”

Hamilton: „Ich habe mich noch nie gedreht…“

Lewis Hamilton is denying that he was spun on the first lap of the US Grand Prix due to a driving error. The seven-time world champion attributes his retirement to a technical defect.

After the race, Hamilton was furious and demanded a serious investigation from the team. Not only did the developments not work, but the car was even worse than before the four-week break:

"There was a similar incident in the first free practice session when I spun in turn three. That's extremely rare; I've never spun at this track before. You saw that George Russell also struggled with it on Saturday, but he's reverted to the older specification, so the problem could be with the new development package. The car keeps jumping, so if I didn't spin in turn three, or not on that lap, it would have happened in another corner or at another time. Something was wrong with the car; I suffered all weekend. I've never spun in a single race in my life. It wasn't a lack of concentration, but rather a lack of good technology. It's frustrating, but that's how it is. I'd rather focus on getting back in the car on Friday," Hamilton complained.
