Circus fun, droid tracks, rule changes with no impact, and less and less excitement. This is what everyone who isn't Red Bull Racing will see in 2024. Even worse, a large part of the industry will see it too.
Eddie Jordan, who sorely misses not only the traditions but also the loud engines that benefit the sport, sees this very same way. He's not alone in this:
"Oh my God! When you were out at a race, say at Silverstone, and the field started with the V10 engines... It was incredible, you felt like the ground was opening up beneath you. There was amazing power and dynamism in them, the fans loved it, everyone loved it, and they could bring it back, but they don't want to. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with the drivers, I respect them a lot, but these cars today... They're not racing machines, more like tractors!
"Tons of weight, incredibly overweight monsters, a true disgrace in the history of Formula 1. And by the way, it's also a huge disgrace for the rule-makers and humiliating for those whose DNA F1 is in. I hate these people for what they've done to this beautiful sport!" Jordan expressed a devastating opinion of the FIA Liberty production. It may be cliché, but we can't argue with the old adage.
