South Africa is waging a strong campaign to bring the country back into the Formula 1 circuit, and not just on the news front. Therefore, the country's Minister of Sport has appointed a committee to select the promoter with whom the country can submit its bid in the coming months.
It's rumored that Kyalami, a venue no stranger to F1, could be the winner. Gayton McKenzie, the minister responsible for sport, is already preparing for 2027 and believes the conditions for hosting the event could realistically come together by then:
"The committee now appointed will determine the terms of the bid. By the end of February, they must submit a venue proposal to the government, one that will certainly not shame the country and will host the best possible race within its capabilities. Which venue that will be is currently uncertain, but I would add that Kyalami has a history and the necessary infrastructure. Just look at the climate, look at the roads; the possibility of a road race is easily emerging. There are investors willing to invest in it, so I think everything is in place..." - explained the most affected player in the matter.
