It's no secret, as the newly crowned four-time world champion has stated countless times in various forums that, as much as he loves and appreciates Formula 1, there is life outside of it. And he wants to experience it, too...
This was hinted at by the Dutch world star's father, Jos Verstappen, who revealed that he had heard that his son was planning to retire from the Formula 1 World Championship for a year:
"He still has a valid contract with Red Bull Racing until 2028, but after that, nothing is set in stone. We'll see if Formula 1 still interests him after that... Throughout his career, everyone has always told him what to do and how to do it. Now he's approaching the point where he won't listen to anyone anymore and will make the decisions on his own. One thing is certain: there's life outside of Formula 1, and that fascinates Max greatly.
I think it's possible he'll step back for a year, try something else, and then come back. I don't know what will happen yet, but one thing is certain: he's not motivated by winning seven or eight world championship titles, nor is he chasing records; he's already more than satisfied with what he's achieved in his Formula 1 career so far." Verstappen's dad gave a rather interesting explanation.
