Charles Leclerc performed excellently in the first two practice sessions of the year, first finishing third, but by the second session already being the fastest driver. And he did so with remarkable determination.
In FP2, the Ferrari driver managed to overtake both McLarens, and finishing ahead of a secret favorite is never a bad sign. Leclerc doesn't make a big deal about it, but...
"It was very good. We were able to prepare perfectly for the second free practice session, as the car handled very well and felt like it was performing at its best. Of course, there are things we still need to work on and improve. For example, I'm not entirely happy with the balance, but we're definitely in a better position than we were in Bahrain during the tests. I don't want to lose my footing, but after a day like this, I'm really looking forward to tomorrow and trying to target pole position!
At the same time, it's important to emphasize that we haven't yet seen the true performance of the others. Some are hiding more, others less, but McLaren will certainly be at the top. We see Red Bull struggling at the moment, but they're Red Bull Racing, so you can never be sure... Especially with Max Verstappen, who shouldn't be underestimated under any circumstances. I'm sure they'll be tough opponents, just like Mercedes. An exciting day awaits us!" - said Charles Leclerc with gentle confidence.
