While all existing Formula 1 portals are waving Lewis Hamilton FAN SITE this week, Helmut Marko came back, saw and said a wheel!
The veteran of Red Bull Racing is sure that it is obvious that Max Verstappen is the best in the current F1 field, while Lewis Hamilton is far behind him:
"Let's look at 2024. Our car was uncompetitive on several occasions, and in those moments, Max was the plus point needed for success. He became world champion because he can simply find 0.1-0.2 tenths of a second every lap in places where no one else could. Yes, not even Lewis Hamilton! He may still be fast, but can he keep up with Max over an entire season? I doubt it. If he gets a great Ferrari and we can only put an average Red Bull under Max, he will still be the winner of the two. So Max Verstappen will do his job; now it's up to us to give him a car that will allow him to win not just occasionally, but consistently.
Unfortunately, that didn't work last season. There were times when we were the fastest, and then a week later, that pace was gone. We need to expand the car's operating range, and we're working on that," Helmut Marko said, giving insight into the long-term plans.
