It had long been apparent that Sergio Perez would not fulfill his contract due to his extremely poor performance, which did not match the level of the Red Bull Racing team. Due to much speculation and considerable external pressure, Perez officially announced today: He is leaving Red Bull!
After a long and incomprehensible wait, what had to happen has finally happened. While it wasn't the team that announced his departure, Sergio Perez did say goodbye in a statement:
"I'm incredibly grateful for the last four seasons and for the opportunity to compete with such a wonderful team. Driving a Red Bull was an experience, and I will always treasure our shared successes.
We've broken records, reached milestones, and met many amazing people along the way. I owe a huge thank you to every single member of the team, from the management, engineers, and mechanics to the hosts, chefs, and marketing and communications staff. I wish them all the best for the future!

It was also a true honor for me to be Max's teammate and share in his successes. My special thanks go to the fans, especially the Mexican supporters, who believed in me every day and supported me tirelessly. See you soon, until then, remember... never give up!" Perez said in farewell, thus ending an era in the life of Red Bull.
