Although we wouldn't have seen much chance of it a few months ago, it's becoming increasingly likely that Sergio Perez's Formula 1 career isn't over, but just on hiatus.
It's clear that if the driver has a chance anywhere, it's with the upcoming Cadillac team, which is currently awaiting official approval from the FOM and FIA. Behind the scenes, however, work is underway at all levels; 2026 is very close, and as we know, no race car can compete without a driver. This is where Sergio Perez comes in. He's reportedly not idle and is already in advanced negotiations with the Andretti team. As a newcomer, the Americans value experience and are therefore working with Ferrari on the power source before General Motors takes over this territory and the team in 2028. For Cadillac, American influence is crucial, not only in the name, but also in financial support and in the identity of the drivers, they think locally.

Andretti will play a key role in selecting the driver lineup, and the Perez family is known to have a good relationship with them. Therefore, anyone betting on the Sergio Perez-Colton Herta driver duo isn't taking a big risk, given Perez's enormous popularity overseas.
