In his moments of joy after the race, Max Verstappen said that he could have won the 2024 World Championship with McLaren and even with Ferrari. Many asked his boss in amazement how the newly crowned winner could say such a thing.
"He can say that on this basis, that it is absolutely true. There is no other driver who could have beaten him, only he himself, and there is no other driver who could have won a championship behind the wheel of a Red Bull. And since he wasn't in the best car, it's obvious that he would have had a chance of winning the world championship in another one. It was a difficult and changeable season, but I'm not sure we'll be as successful in 2025... If we can give him a car that isn't as temperamental as this year's, then yes, Max will succeed," said Helmut Marko.
