Sebastian Vettel has spoken out in support of his former biggest rival. The German world champion believes that Lewis Hamilton, if anyone, could pull the Ferrari team out of its long-standing turmoil.
Nevertheless, he's keeping his fingers crossed for his rival, even though he once couldn't thrive at Scuderia Ferrari because of Hamilton. But that doesn't bother Vettel:
"It's true that I wasn't successful because Lewis had the better package with Mercedes back then. We'll see how he fares with Ferrari, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him. We've competed a lot, and over time we've become good friends, and I don't have to prove his abilities and the work he's put in to anyone. He's the most honest driver in Formula 1 today; his results and records speak for themselves, and he always uses his influence for positive purposes, so it's pleasing that he's still part of the field. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he wins the championship, but it won't be easy for him. There's Charles Leclerc, who is very talented; they're a very strong duo, but it doesn't depend solely on them to have a chance of winning the title in the final races. Let's hope it's a close one; that would only benefit everyone," reflected Sebastian Vettel.
