Honda left Formula 1 without actually leaving and will soon launch another factory project, this time alongside Aston Martin Racing. Of course, they will also have influence over who the Greens choose for their cars...
Honda Racing Corporation President Koji Watanabe has confirmed this and also hinted at who the favorites might be:
"There are more and more drivers, but the number of seats is limited. We, as a factory team, will continue to have a major role and influence on who will drive our car in our joint project with Aston Martin. Whoever our driver will be, we are planning with them long-term. We have candidates, and we know both very well.
The team will have the final say, but the basic lineup will remain the same as it is now at Red Bull. We will have significant influence on the crucial issues. I would also like to emphasize that we are delighted to be working with Adrian Newey again, and we will do everything we can to be competitive," said the boss, who also knows both (Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda) very well.
