The FIA President isn't backing down from his idea of "cleaning" driver communication. And if this can't be achieved through penalties, encryption could follow.
Radio chats have already created numerous unforgettable moments for motorsport fans, just think of Kimi Räikkönen's classics or the quips of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. However, the FIA is waging a war on common sense and humor, which is why, starting in 2025, points can be lost for obscene comments in radio chats. And that's still not good enough for Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who also wants to exclude spectators from the aforementioned experience and encrypt radio chats.
"Should we shut down live radio communications? There are moves in that direction. There are many things we're working on with the promoters. Don't forget that we're still the owners of the championship, and we'll determine the direction we go in," said the sports director.
We don't want to seem rude, but doesn't someone want to finally remove this leadership from the FIA?
